Figure 4.2: Global audio settings dialog
Here you specify the internal resolution for the audio processing of
JAZZ. This means, that all samples are internally converted to the
parameters you specify here. If you set the sampling rate to 22050 here
and load a sample that was sampled with 11025 samples per second, JAZZ
will convert it to 22050 samples per second on loading. Specifying
low quality here (low sampling rate and mono) will dramatically reduce
the CPU and memory requirements needed for processing. Of course this
will reduce sound quality too.
- Enable Audio. If you leave this unchecked, the whole audio system
will be disabled. This is useful, if you do not use audio in a midi-only
song and want to save CPU and memory.
- Sample Freq (or Sampling Rate). The number of samples per second and
per channel (if stereo). 44100 is CD quality, 8000 is telephone sound.
- Stereo. Switch this off if all your samples are mono anyway or to
save memory.
- Software Midi/Audio Sync. You may try to switch this off. If midi
and audio keep in time, then your sound card synchronizes midi and audio
itself and you should leave this unchecked, because midi-audio synchronization
is CPU intensive too. Most cards do not synchronize midi and audio, so
in most cases this should be checked. Please note that midi tempo changes
in the middle of a song will not work if Midi/Audio Sync is enabled.
